Course Description: Dressmaking NC II is a technical-vocational course designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to create and design garments, including dresses, shirts, skirts, and other clothing items.
The Dressmaking NC II program typically covers the following topics and skills:
- Taking Body Measurements: Properly measuring a person's body to create a well-fitting garment.
- Drafting and Cutting Patterns: Creating patterns for different types of clothing and then cutting the fabric accordingly.
- Sewing Techniques: Learning various sewing techniques, including hand sewing and machine sewing.
- Garment Construction: Assembling and sewing together the cut fabric pieces to create a complete garment.
- Garment Alteration: Making adjustments to existing clothing to ensure a proper fit.
- Quality Control: Checking finished garments for quality and ensuring they meet industry standards.
Trainee Entry Requirements:
- Can communicate both orally and in written
- Physically and mentally fit
- With good moral character
- Can perform basic mathematical and computer operation
- Must have at least 10 years of Basic Education or an ALS Certificate of achievement with a Grade 10 equivalent holder
- Must undergo trainability evaluation
